Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer is to support the CEPEDA Engineering team at designing, qualifying, producing, and maintaining high quality, mission-critical products for the DoD. They will help solve problems through analysis, critical thinking, experimentation, and testing, to provide creative solutions to the unique problems presented by the DoD. This may include tasks in new product development/R&D or in sustaining engineering for CEPEDA's current range of projects.
The engineer may perform tasks from CAD work and digital data management to product design, technical data package management, test plan development, customer communication, all the way to project management. They will need strong technical skills to review engineering documentation such as specifications, requirements documents, test plans, etc. enabling them to design/maintain/qualify components to the requirements of the customer. Background in machine design or process engineering would be beneficial for engineers in this position. The engineer will need to be able to communicate technical information to various stakeholders accurately. Based on their skillset the engineer may help manage projects or may work on a team with a dedicated project manager allowing them to flourish at the task specific level.
CEPEDA's engineering team is organized into project teams within the department allowing the ME to impact design engineering or sustaining engineering based on their skillset, with some project teams requiring a hybrid of each. CEPEDA is also looking towards the future and establishing an advanced projects team to investigate and establish technology not yet in use at CEPEDA. The ME may have opportunities to work on this team also.

Responsibilities & Duties
Work as part of a collaborative team to ensure technical aspects of projects are completed
Perform tasks in sustaining engineering and/or R&D such as: machine design, process engineering, analysis, testing, CAD, etc.
Assist engineering team with day-to-day project functions, including researching product specifications, procedure writing, design, testing, analysis, etc.
Identify and aid in production improvements and implementation for various products
Design test rigs to facilitate validation of hardware
Work with other departments to provide technical support as needed
Skills/Training/Qualifications Required
Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or related field
At least one (1) year of relevant engineering experience, more experience preferred
Ability to work collaboratively to solve engineering problems
High initiative, work ethic, and reliability
Interest in personal and professional growth
Ability to read, understand, and communicate technical information
Ability to work well on a team but also independently to meet established goals
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
